As the World Burns: The Kids

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 19, 2009, 4:35 PM
Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Well, I did the villains. Time for the kids!

Charlie
--------------
Charlie has remained young and innocent the entire series and shall continue to. I will not say HOW. Nor will I say how he's able to do some of the things he does. But I will tell you this: you may or may not know, but he was based on a real person...and he is the one character who is probably closest to being God out of every person in my life I've ever known. At least, if God looked like a kid. He's best of buddies with Heartwing, who, like him, always remains young, innocent, and uncorruptible. Heartwing's death symbolizes a terrible blow to innocence, how it's almost lost totally. The fact that Charlie remains means that there's still some left in their town.

Heartwing
--------------
Heartwing has always represented innocence and love. He's really a very angelic little figure and not evil or mean at all: I deliberately laugh in the face of the "dragon=evil" stereotype. Like Page and Charlie, he can't be corrupted at all because all three of them embody the true spirit of love: the love people have for each other, for their world and for the sake of Good. Even though Jack makes him angry, he doesn't actually HATE what he does, he just thinks Jack ought to know better...that he's ignorant. Kinda ironic, because Heartwing is rather stupid. Depsite being stupid though, Heartwing is very kind and gentle and self-sacrificing. He ends up dying to prevent Sandy from being killed, his death shows that some true innocence has been lost from the town. Despite this, he returns to life and ends up being the very last member of the Major Arcana to remain in Lilo and Stitch's world. Then...it's time to move on. The world is, at long last, is ready to listen to what he and his ohana can teach. I wanted to end the story in a hopeful way, because I have faith in what love can do for the world. You might also be wondering...how did he EVER get a kid? Blame Jumba's fiddling with blood they donated at the local high school. However, the creation of Senkoukura allowed the two to bond: Heartwing considers Heatwave a "nestmate"...a sibling, very dear.

Patch
--------------
Patch came from the inspiration given to be my good friend :iconstitch8000:. She is best friends with Yuuna and Echo, and WAS good friends with Gavrilo and Jack before they went all evil. She and the other two girls are a trinity that's representative of a basic fact of life: there is incredible potential in children, and if properly given direction...if this blossom of potential is nutured right...it can bloom even more beautifully than before. Patch has the gift of Zoe...advanced life magic. She can bring those dead back to life, returning their souls to bodies that can be instantly healed before everyone's amazed eyes. Bios or "White Magic" is healing magic and can even bring life to things that had no life before, but not nearly on the scale that Zoe has. Most religious fanatics look upon those with either power as "false prophets" and the like. The sad thing is, such a gift is a genuine sign of God's blessing. White magic has to be freely given by a force of Light or Good, and those who know white magic can teach it to others, as Patch does to King, forgiving him for his past indiscretions and doubts. She also Vassago to develop more of a bond with humankind and to allow HIM to forgive himself for failing others he'd cared about before and could not save. Her parents are Dr. PL, who is inhabiting the body of Spiritalise, and the nursing experiment Heala.

Yuuna
--------------
Yuuna I named after...well, you know who. The main character from the "Stitch" anime. It's coming to Disney Channel in the fall, and I await it's premiere with interest. I stay by this: the best stories have a life of their own. Trust in the fans...they have never let Disney down before. And depending how fans treat THAT series depends on how Disney will treat the entire L&S franchise I feel. Will thou accept only the perfect and not make any room for the flawed? Yuuna is flawed, definitely, she's childish...VERY much so. But she also has excellent martial arts skills and it's hinted that she might be the best magician that King's taught so far. Thus, she is very representative of the anime series "Stitch". With the right people nuturing her...giving her support...her potential will fulfill itself and she will turn into something worthy and amazing. Her parents are Daveigh Pelekai and Ashton Edmonds, the "Lovers" of the Major Arcana. Yuuna was also very good friends with Heartwing: in Asian culture, dragons are revered.

Echo
--------------
Echo is loud. VERY LOUD. And when she's being VERY LOUD, things happen. Windows break, cats will yowl and spontaneously explode (Poor little kitty) and the power turns on and off, etc. She thinks this is personally the coolest thing ever and will probably continue to do this far into the future. Mercifully she seems to have not inherited her parent's sexual libido...at least, that's what it LOOKS like. Time will tell. ;) Echo is the most spunky of the girls and the most spirited. She also happens to gain the admiration of Alex, who gains a great fondness for the girl. She really likes Alex and cares a lot about the Briton and is nervous about his abilities, yet at the same time is fascinated. She's kind of a big fan of action films...anything that has things EXPLODING. She gets this from her dad. Fact is, she's a huge movie buff, AND she also manages to find out gossip before most if it ever reaches the ears of any of the others in Kokaua Town. She provides a great deal of comic relief, but is a spirited girl in her own right. She's Belle and Legion's granddaughter and Bellatrix and Jude's daughter., given life via in-vitro, which, luckily in her time, the Catholic church does not mind at all!

Gavrilo
--------------
Gavrilo's gay. There. I said it. He's gay for Jack and has most likely been for quite some time. But by no means should you judge this as a facet of him being evil. If you thought for a moment that "Gay=morally blackened" then I'll have to ask you to step OUTSIDE. Even in Sodom and Gomorrah, which, for the record, is where the lovely term "sodomized" came from, being gay wasn't what got the people killed...they were just so incredibly sinful they were screwed from the start! And really, Gavrilo's just like this. He was always kind of sleazy and a bit of a jerk, but his true villain began to shine when he started gleefully engaging in the horrific acts that Jack encouraged him in. I sort of portrayed him as being kind of a sleazy little jerk who should have known better...he did half the things he did out of devotion towards Jack, but the other half was because, pure and simple, there are people in this world who are weak. WEAK little monsters. And he definitely counted. Ironic, considering his parents were Ace and Spectra.

Green
--------------
Green develops a lot from the beginning of the story to the end. At first she just does what her mother and father say because, quite simply, she trusts them absolutely and she just always hoped they'd be there for her no matter what. Still, despite being "raised evil" her parent's devotion to HER allowed for the seed of compassion to grow in her, hence her guilt over murdering Stitch and Angel. She'll always have some nervousness around them from thenon. Furthermore, Green's not "beautiful". Cute, yes, she can be very cuddly/cute, but not beautiful. I deliberately left her without a shirt not merely to emphasize that she would be revealed as Grey's child but also because I wanted her to be noticed not for what's plainly shown on her chest, but for her skills, her personality and her intelligence, which is what OUGHT to matter, not merely from women, but from people in general. The fact that she ends up marrying and having Junior's children, is tremendous irony. Also, beneath her brown hair...she has little black nubby antannae on her head. They never really fully developed. You shoulda seen her as a tyke. Cuuuuuute. :) Also, Green was saddened and heartbroken over Two's death. Even though he wished to kill her, she always wanted a brother and it broke her heart to see him dying. Mercifully, they know have a chance to be brother and sister. I used Green to show a different kind of relationship...if you thought Kila was going to end up with Grey...not so much. That wasn't my intent. They shall always be friends and will continue to remain friends apart, though there will always be a bond between them not merely in terms of "I love you as deeply as a sister/brother" but also because they now share blood. They're going to be like divorced parents, sharing the kids. It's one of those things that was kind of...hard to write...since my OWN parents are divorced.

Also...Green has ANOTHER brother, though she doesn't know it yet. I hint at who it is in the epilogue though. Can ya find it? ;)

Junior
--------------
Junior is destined for great things. He wants to become a senator in the Galactic Federal Alliance partly to eliminate the terrible stain on the Hamsterviel name, partly to let the galaxy respect the Muridean race...but mostly because he believes he can do a great amount of good as a senator, which is true. He was meant to be an utter foil to Jack's character and I think he succeeded. Junior is an optimist,Jack is a cynic. Also, Jack is all for violence (especially in using it to get rid of minorities) but Junior is a pacifist who hates war. Interestingly, the Murideans are traditionally: how do you think they get so big and fat, like his dad does? :XD: Also, unlike Jack, Junior is tolerant and accepting of other religions and lifestyles...and in the end, his forgiving nature is what shocks Jack the most. He's amazed that Junior has offered to let him be a godfather to one of his children. Junior will, one day, become a senator, and who knows...maybe even the Galactic Councilman. Who knows? :D His friendship with Green that slowly evolves into a relationship is very, very funny in my opinion. And the fact that they will one day have a kid who marries Frequency is further irony. The daughter of Grey, Kila and Zim marrying the son of Hamsterviel? AND those two having a child who will marry the grandson of Stitch and Angel? VERY ironic. Kila constantly threatens to disown Green every time she makes out with Junior but she never ever means it because Junior really always was a nice child, and I feel he came out exactly the way he was meant to. He sort of represents a "white knight" kind of guy who doesn't simply want to APPEAR good, but to truly BE good because he hates the idea of being evil. Think of him as a fuzzy "Sentator Smith". :D

Jack
--------------
Everybody remembers how I said Samael was a total, horrid, evil, sick and twisted being? Jack comes incredibly close. The reason WHY is simply because he, like Samael, used to be somewhat GOOD. Now, I say SOMEWHAT good because even as a child, his innocence was slowly fading away, not due to his parent's influence or his environment, oh no. His biggest problem was that inside, he was a jerk. He had every reason to be good and he threw it away because he could not get over the idea of his parents being villains...he could not...forgive. That, ultimately, is what I portray one of the biggest sins people commit: being unable to feel repentant or forgiving towards others makes you just as bad as the people you hate in my opinion. There's nobody in this world, as Page says, that is so evil that they're irredeemable. We should wish that, in another time, and place, they WEREN'T so bad...and perhaps...somehow...they might be cured. Jack couldn't forgive. His body was weaker, but his spirit was weaker. Sadder still, he began to spiral into drugs...and THIS is a big point. He wasn't doing drugs FROM the beginning. They didn't make him bad. He was a bad boy from the beginning and the drugs just intensified what was already in him. Much like the phrase "In wine, truth", I think that sometimes drugs end up making people act the way their inner monster would act. Jack really has nobody to blame for what happened to him though, except himself. He could have refused Samael at any time...but he damned himself. Jack's attempted killing of Sandy causes Heartwing to die in the process...symbolizing that innocence is sometimes sacrificed in the name of protecting the cause of true good. Jack genuinely feels terrible in that instant and this is what seperates him from Samael: unlike the Devil, seeing this act of kindness to save family makes him weep, where as "Sammy" would have pitilessly snorted and walked off. This is a tiny hint I gave that he wasn't destined to die horribly in the end, despite all he did. True, yes, he was crippled for life. He could not use his arms, legs...not even go to the bathroom without help. He too, like Samael, will be unable to die, no matter how hard he tries to kill himself...but unlike Samael, he'll have more people to help him.

Interesting analysis, I liked how you described Heartwing, very helpful for your request I'm making for you.

I have one thing to say to Green, take good care of Eve. And Echo, a truly marvellous girl.

This is very well in-depth. Not sure how this will go so far in the future along with all the other children both human and experimental.

I wonder if there could at least be some analysis for the characters in AFF. Problem is for the roles in season five, I did not plan the characterization very well.
